We currently offer live-in and live-out caregiver services in the Ottawa region. Services will be conducted by the company's quality trained professionals such as Case Workers, Personal Support Workers (PSW's), Care Attendants and Nurses. Clients will be matched based on their needs determined through a needs assessment which is conducted in the client's home or wherever the care will take place. The caregiver will be in the clients' home for 3-4 hours per day. Most client's require services two the three days per week. Caregiving services are offered on a short term or long term basis.
Companionship
Social contact is proven to enhance one's quality of life, eliminate lonesomeness and stimulate brain activity. Helping Hands Caregivers are there to provide companionship, engage the client in conversation, share meals, read and engage in other leisure activities together.
Personal Care
General personal care will be carried out by our highly trained Personal Support Workers. Personal care includes: grooming, bathing, hygiene, toileting, transferring, mobility assistance, feeding, housekeeping and more.
Specialized Care
Specialized Care are for those who may require more specialized care due to specific illness' or needs. Specialized Care may also include:
Respite Care - short-term relief for those caring for a family member or friend.
Hospital Care - Private and additional care in a public hospital.
Long-Term Care - Private and additional care within a Long-Term Care facility.

Helping Hands Caregivers can assist the client plan and prepare enjoyable and nutritious meals. The client’s involvement in the meal preparation process depends on their ability. As it is essential for seniors to have a well-balanced diet, this service allows clients to choose what they would like to eat and how they would like it prepared, while still receiving required support to prepare meals safely. Helping Hands Caregivers assist client’s with adherence to prescribed diets to prevent and/or control a wide variety of medical conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. We carry out this service according to the specific needs of the client and if required, assist with feeding as well. This loss of independence is understood by Helping Hands Caregivers; as such every effort will be made to ensure the clients’ dignity is preserved. Our Caregivers may also assist clients with dining out if the client can safely do so.
Helping Hands Caregivers offers supplementary care, which is care in addition to the care provided in Hospitals, Retirement Homes or in Long-Term Care settings, whether this is companionship, assistance with errands, assistance with hygiene etc. The supplementary services we offer may depend on the setting which the client is in and their policy.
Helping Hands Caregivers can assist clients with tasks associated with personal care and hygiene. Our caregivers are compassionate and sensitive and will ensure the client’s dignity is maintained. Personal Care and Hygiene includes: sponge bathing, full shower/bath, dressing, grooming, wound care, toileting etc.
Helping Hands Caregivers are able to provide housekeeping services for our clients. Services may include laundry, ironing clothes and putting away of clothing etc. Cleaning services may include: sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning kitchens, organizing closets and drawers and interior window cleaning. Our staff will ensure these tasks are conducted according to the preference of the client. The client may or may not assist with these tasks depending on their abilities and safety.
Caregiving for a family member can be a gratifying and profound experience, however it is also demanding and exhausting, therefore we provide a service where caregivers can take some time off. Our caregivers will go into the client’s environment and relieve a family caregiver temporarily in order for them to continue with their other responsibilities knowing their loved one is being taken care of by qualified professionals. This service can be provided if the family caregiver is going on vacation, going in for surgery or just needs a break.
Helping Hands Caregivers can complete errands for or with the client depending on the client’s wishes and abilities. The errands we can assist with may be:
- Groceries and other shopping
- Pharmacy Pick-Up/Delivery
- Visiting friends/family
- Medical appointments
- And all other errands the client may require assistance with
Helping Hands Caregivers will ensure that clients take their medication as prescribed. We also can assist in opening medication containers, reading labels and organizing pills into dosettes for the week.
A primary service we offer is to provide clients with companionship. Helping Hands Caregivers are able to provide company, conversation, meal sharing, as well as playing games, reading books, visiting with friend/family and more. We believe this is an essential service as social contact improves health, happiness and quality of life of seniors. We also offer palliative (end-of-life) companionship.
Helping Hands Caregivers will provide support and guidance for light exercise, which may include: walking, chair exercises, stretching, and strength training. If clients are given specific exercise routines by a doctor or physiotherapist, they may feel more comfortable doing them with someone else present. Seniors may shy away from exercise due to fear of falling or injury; this service eases the fear and will give clients the independence to exercise if they choose.
